Welcome to The Freezer, a studio provided to Albus Cavus by Alex Gold of The Fridge Gallery. The studio is located in a back alley on Capitol Hill in walking distance from Eastern Market Metro. Help us sustain this space so we can continue creating new art:
Every day, the studio is utilized by our artists and students working on projects that beautify and uplift public spaces in Washington DC.
The students learn artistic techniques and steps in mural creation while they work on site-specific artwork, such as this new mural in the Union Station.
They get opportunities to work with materials and techniques that are not being taught anywhere else, such as stenciling, wheat pasting, spray painting and fiberglass molding. Here Jamila and Dana are working on "Call Your Mom" mural.
Sebi and Chuk creating a new facade for The Temporium, an old library kiosk recently reactivated and put into new use.
We create an opportunities for Summer Youth Employment Program students who in return provide services to our communities, such as this new artwork for Ballou High School.
And they participate in projects that benefit all DC residents, such as advocating for a right to participate in democracy.
