Holly Bass

Holly Bass is a writer and multidisciplinary performer. A Cave Canem fellow, her poems have appeared in Callalou, nocturnes (re)view, Role Call (Third World Press) and The Ringing Ear. She has presented her work at respected performance spaces such as the Kennedy Center (DC), the Whitney Museum (NY) and the Experience Music Project (Seattle). She studied modern dance (under Viola Farber) and creative writing at Sarah Lawrence College before earning a Master’s in Journalism from Columbia University. She has received several grants from the DC Commission on the Arts, including two Hip Hop Community Arts grants, artist fellowships and project-based grants. She is one of twenty artists nationwide to receive the 2008 Future Aesthetics grant from the Ford Foundation/Hip Hop Theater Festival.
