The students will review and utilize facts about water-related issues, develop an artwork and create it during sixteen weeks. What Color Is It?

Sponsored and hosted by Smithsonian Anacostia Community Museum: To help you discover the beautiful and unexplored world of color around us, artist Peter Krsko of the art and design group Albus Cavus leads a workshop that examines the phenomenon of color. What is it and how do we perceive it? Why is a sunset red and a rainbow always the same? To answer these questions, we will look at color from the perspective of an artist, physicist, neuroscientist, and biologist.

Graffiti Workshop

GRAFFITI WORKSHOP is this Sunday, November 6 from 2pm to 4pm. The workshop is led by artists who participate in the upcoming exhibit in The Fridge titled ABOVE THE RADAR 2: Else, Dread, 4sakn, as well as curator Luna George. They are visiting us from LA. Space is limited, show up on time. In The Fridge DC. Wear paint clothes and bring a respirator if you have one. Suggested donation $20.

Sculpture Workshop with Jonathan Miller

The current exhibit in The Fridge Gallery features precisely fabricated interactive mobile sculptures by Jonathan Miller. If you missed your chance to acguire one of the sculptures, the show is completely sold out. However, on Sunday you will get a unique opportunity to meet the artist, learn about his sculptures and even build one of your own.

We will learn how Jonathan casted three-dimensional sculptures, we will try out his own tools and will build our own gear boxes and sculptures from legos and found materials.

The workshop is on Sunday, October 30 from 2pm to 4pm. Arrive early, bring your friends, suggested donation is $20. It is open to all ages. For more information about all our learning programs visit: www.albuscav.us/classrooms

Drawing Creatures with Ben Tolman

Thank you all for participating in Ben Tolman’s workshop. We all got an inside view on Ben’s creative process, research his unique collection of monster books and spend two hours drawing and creating our own fantasy creatures.
