Dan Bracaglia, the reporter of The Daily Targum hung out with us on Sunday. One story he told us was about a police chase and shootout that happened around the corner where we painted. It is alarming to see that this neighborhood needs help. Only a few decades back it was one of the most comfortable areas of New Jersey. Today, all the family houses are converted into apartment buildings that house mostly college students. The property owners have no connection to this place and tags keep popping up on their buildings. Does anybody respond to it? New Brunswick Police Department formed anti-graffiti task force and the City requires the property owners to keep removing the graffiti on their own expense. How efficient is their effort? I can’t tell but I know that the street has been getting worse and worse over the last two years.

Our volunteer initiative to paint over the gang tags is welcome by the local residents. We bring life and colors to the street. Everyone passing by the murals on Sunday smiled.
