Juan “CRI” Pineda will be leading the workshop on Sunday, February 28 2010 at 2pm. Juan is a versatile muralist who enjoys painting his “CRI” pieces as much as creating large scale portraits. He will introduce us to the grid system, which is super helpful technique for drawing small scale as well as large images accurately. The workshop will help us think about layout, dimensions, perspective. We will practice precision in drawing shapes as well shading. Grid system is one of the most common techniques used to put down a layout on large area such as mural. It allows artist to get the shapes and size correctly expanded from the original sketch.
The workshop is on Sunday, February 28, 2010 in The Fridge, 516 8th Street SE (rear alley), Washington, DC. It is in walking distance from Eastern Market Metro Station. Wear work clothes. Suitable for all ages. Fee $25. Students are encouraged to bring a 8″x10″ black and white portrait photograph of their choice to class. Duration 2 hours.
